While dedicated to bringing attention to the plight of the earth through his vividly colored oil paintings, Willi's work is not all negative, but life-affirming: celebrating flowers, snow, ice, beaches, birds, sky and water.

Artist Comment: (not specifically related to this painting): Somebody said once, “I hate those noisy geese flying over my house.” ... I thought ...'why do you think they are squawking? Actually, they are talking – communicating'.... We should realize by now, we are living all on one planet. Ecology is so perfectly balanced. Neglecting it, we will pay a very high price. I am not an environmentalist. I am a lover of nature. All the statements I make in my paintings come from the heart, with no crutch to either side ... It is hard for any artist who thinks like I think, to paint a beautiful landscape, knowing it might be gone the next year.
